• Our Charities

Big Fish Ents is not just club nights, partying, comedy and theatre. We think it is important to give something back.

As we work mostly with students and it is the students that allow us to survive as a company, we thought it would be fitting to select charities that have relevance to students.

The following charities receive donations from Big Fish Ents as well as partner with Big Fish on a number of events throughout the academic year to raise publicity and more importantly funds.

    Student Community Action

SCA is an independent charity, which recruits and places student volunteers from the University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin University in any one of dozens of projects in Cambridge. Each year SCA has more than 600 volunteers giving thousands of hours to improve the lives of people living in the local community.

As well as our regular volunteering projects SCA also run several one-off events for the local community. Last year these included: punting kids around for our summer fun-day, dressing up as Santa at Christmas, busking for SCA, making musical instruments out of recycled materials for CAMEO, gardening, refereeing sports competitions, running experiments at the science festival and theatre workshops.

Want to get involved all you need to do is fill out aregistration form, which is available on the website. If you want to do anything that involves working with children or vulnerable adults then you'll need to do a CRB check, so pop into the office with some ID.

Eagle Heights Wildlife Park  in association with The Cheetah Conservation Fund

Eagle Heights is situated in Eynsford, Kent, overlooking the village itself with views over the Darent Valley.

One of our Big Fish Reps Max Foreman from Emma, works for this sanctuary during the holidays and as it receives NO FUNDING from the government, this facility is very much in danger.

Eagle Heights opened its centre in 1996, initially with around 30 birds. Their exciting displays and wonderful surroundings soon became popular and the centre rapidly expanded, now housing between 150 - 200 birds at any one time. We also have a newly built reptile house and now have various mammals on display, including meerkats, a camel and three cheetahs.

For those interested in our conservational work Eagle Heights also have a bird hospital, including our own anaesthetic machine and other medical facilities.

    Movember

One of Big Fish's closest friends is Hywel Mills who used to be a student at Cambridge and used to party with us regularly. He now works with the team promoting the fantastic charity Movember.

The 'Mo', slang for moustache, and November come together each year for Movember.

Each Movember this charity challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men's health by growing a moustache. The moustache is their ribbon, the means by which we raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the commitment is to grow a moustache for 30 days. Funds raised benefit The Prostate Cancer Charity.

If you would like to join the global movement that is changing the face of men's health, sign up for Movember.

    RAG

Cambridge RAG is a student society that raises in the region of £150,000 each year for charity. RAG achieves this amazing amount by organising a number of high profile university-wide events and smaller college events.

If you want to go on a blind date, climb Kilimanjaro or test your blagging skills by trying to get as far away from Cambridge as possible in only 36 hours, RAG can help you! Our student volunteers also do regular bucket collections in Cambridge and further afield. They also do week-long tours at Christmas and Easter.
